EUROTEL, one of the biggest hotel chains in the country, has recently distributed more than 2,000 medical and school supplies to various schools in NCR, led by Mr. Ronaldo Sebastian, Eurotel Sector Head. Among other things, the school supplies include pencils, pens, writing pads, bond paper, and notebooks. Additionally, Eurotel also provides medical supplies to help avoid COVID-19. The Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the formal opening of classes in August 2022. Students have the option of attending physical (modular type) or virtual classes, depending on the COVID-19 situation in the neighborhood, as long as it continues to be a threat to their health. “High-quality education is the foundation of a child’s life. It is what drives them to grow with wisdom and intelligence. This is the main reason why Eurotel supports these kinds of activities. We are giving back to the community and by providing school supplies to the kids will help the parents to budget their income, because they can spend the money on other necessities such as food rather than school supplies”, according to Mr. Sebastian. One of Eurotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts is in education. As a concern corporate citizen, the company sees helping to educate young people as one way to show its concern, particularly in the communities where it operates.
For the past years, Eurotel Hotel is a passionate benefactor for needy organizations, associations, and even churches or religious groups. As a believer, Mr. Edmundo Las, Director of Eurotel Hotel, is certain that the blessings he received from all his successes come from his initiative of giving back whatever he has. Marciano R. Andres, OMI. The financial support aims to help the Church in their chapel construction and other monetary expenses. “Here at Eurotel Hotel, we believe that the essence of giving is the main source that drives us forward –to give without expecting in return is the true act of kindness. With this, I would like to encourage other companies to take time and reflect on how they can share their blessings with others, especially those who need support, because true joy is in giving.I am honoured to represent Eurotel Hotel in our future endeavors in helping out. I know that this financial aid to our dear friends in Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, run by Oblates of Mary Immaculate, would help them in attaining enough funds for the chapel construction.” the Eurotel Hotel director shared. The Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto serves as a refuge for people in need to relieve both body and soul. With an amusement park and mini zoo inside its premises, it is a sacred ground that serves as a recreation area for children and for families to pray together and enjoy each other’s company. A GREENER TOMORROW. Eurotel Hotel recently launched its own community "plantry" titled A Seed to Feed: Plant now, Harvest Later at Eurotel Vivaldi. Inspired by the idea behind community pantries, this project encourages people to have their homegrown vegetables like Ampalaya, Upo, Talong, and Sitaw, to name a few. Over 350 residents, passersby, and hotel guests already benefited from the said program. "Through our project, we would like to give help to our fellow kababayans in our special way. We thought of giving seeds to the community people to help them grow their own vegetables, to have a healthy food source and save money. Not only that, most of us are already stressed out with all the negative news because of the pandemic situation, and gardening is a natural stress reliever that can improve mood and develop a sense of accomplishment that can also maintain a well mental health”. Ms. Sue Geminiano, Marketing Manager, said. Eurotel's community plantry will re-open after the ongoing ECQ and be opened every weekday from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. While schools are reopening in some corners of the world after pandemic induced closures, the Philippines remain its classes shut down due to COVID-19 crisis. With this, education is no exception, this catastrophe has exposed the numbers of insuffienciencies and partiality in our education system. If there’s another lesson that the pandemic has brought us, it is the importance of education. Thankfully enough, there are still some private companies who prioritize in helping the children and the youth in their education, just like Eurotel Hotel. Through the initiative of Mr. Edmundo G. Las, Director of Eurotel Hotel, they are sponsoring 10 students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Scholars Foundation, Inc. (PLMSFI) for the year 2020-2021. “As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program, Eurotel Hotel is glad to help out by granting these students the opportunity to learn and grow despite the pandemic. The company believes that education is a vital part of growing as a person and a responsible Filipino as well. We hope that they will not forget our simple gesture thus, learn to share with people whenever they can”, the management shared. Eurotel Hotel continues to take further its cause in extending help to the community, by helping PLMSFI scholars who are in need, despite the current pandemic situation. “We are aware that in these trying times; education is not something to be overlooked. As we extend our assistance to these gifted individuals just as we hope for a better future. Like PLMSFI vision, we believe that no student must be deprived of a good college education. There is an old Chinese proverb that goes, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody, and true happiness are found in helping others.” Mr. Edmundo added. The PLMSFI was established on August 1998 by a group of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) baccalaureate graduates it aims to preserve and promote the mark of PLM as a model university for the less privileged, intellectually deserving students of Manila. As of today, PLMSFI has fifty (50) scholar beneficiaries. Their goal for the next five years is to double the number of scholars or more and that would become possible if they can get more sustainable donations. “Even before the pandemic, there were major holes for many poor or low income families in the country who struggle to pay tuition fee for schools and lack of resources to cover emergency expenses. In this time of pandemic, all we need is care. We need more sensitivity. We need more people to care about one another; we should not let this pandemic, driven down the will and eagerness of the children and the youth to brighten up their education. Actions can really create hope,” the Director of Eurotel said. Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 18) — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered hotels and motels in the city to aid health workers amid the government’s strict quarantine measures to contain the coronavirus disease. Moreno announced Wednesday that he signed an executive order requiring these establishments to allow health workers in city and national government hospitals to use their facilities as a staging area. “Ito po ay gagamitin ng ating mga frontliners sa health sector -- mga pasilidad pangkalusugan na pag-aari ng lokal at pasilidad pangkalusugan pag-aari ng nasyonal,” said Moreno in a video posted on Facebook. [Translation: These will be used by our frontliners from the health sector - those from local and national health facilities.] This is to accommodate in particular those who live outside Manila as the entire Luzon remains under “enhanced community quarantine” — travel to and from the island is restricted and mass transportation is suspended. The order means that workers can book themselves into hotels for free, Manila Public Information Office chief Julius Leonen clarified. Moreno said he had already spoken to three hotel companies - SOGO, Eurotel and Town and Country - who agreed to provide accommodations to the city’s frontliners who are living outside of the city. There are 421 rooms available from SOGO, 50 rooms from Eurotel and 60 rooms from Town and Country, he said. The mayor added that he also instructed the city’s health department to coordinate with the establishments to determine who can avail of the free rooms. The Quezon City government also made a similar arrangement with a partner hotel. Mayor Joy Belmonte announced in a press conference that 100 rooms were made available to the city’s health workers while separate rooms will be used for persons under monitoring for possible infection. In Albay, the Mayon Skyline Hotel, located about four kilometers away from the Mayon Volcano, will be a quarantine facility for persons confirmed with the disease that has already infected over 200 people in the country and killed 17 others. On Tuesday, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles announced that hotels in Luzon are no longer allowed to operate during the quarantine period, except those with existing bookings from foreigners and those with long-term leases. They can also no longer accept new bookings.
MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso on Wednesday afternoon signed an executive order calling for 531 hotel rooms to be opened for health workers. Executive Order No. 17, an order commandeering motels and hotels in the City of Manila as staging area of healthcare workers of the six city hospitals of Manila and other national government hospitals located within the City of Manila, was signed by the Manila mayor on Wednesday. This was in response to the suspension of mass transportation owing to the president's declaration of enhanced community quarantine on Monday night. "Said suspension has made it difficult for the City of Manila's health workers as well as health workers of the national government to travel to and from their station of work in the City of Manila," the executive order read. Julius Leonen, the city's public information chief, confirmed that these would be free of charge for health workers. According to Leonen, Sogo Hotel was set to provide 421 rooms, while Town and Country and Eurotel would provide 60 and 50 rooms, respectively. The information chief also disclosed that Robinsons Malls, 168 Mall and Settimo Drago Ratto Properties Inc. have "answered the city government's appeal to waive rental fees for their tenants." According to the city's PIO, the following provisions were also donated to the city by private companies: • 25,000 face masks, medical supplies, alcohol, biscuits, ready to eat supplemental foods for hospital/healthcare workers donated by the Philippine Red Cross Manila Chapter • 3 units of UV Care Room Sterilizer, 100 pieces of virus blockers donated by the Ongpin Foundation • 5,000 bottles of drinking water donated by Brgy.
